I strive to provide budget-friendly options that meet your needs. After our consultation, I'll give you an estimate tailored to you. Hiring a bookkeeper is an investment that can save you money in multiple ways compared to doing it yourself. Let's explore the costs of DIY bookkeeping:
IRS Audits: Errors in your bookkeeping can lead to an IRS audit, resulting in various fees and penalties.
CPA Fees: Correcting your bookkeeping mistakes can cost you up to $300 per hour in CPA fees. You might also miss deductible expenses that could have reduced your tax liability.
Stress and Health: DIY bookkeeping can add stress, affecting your health and potentially leading to missed workdays and medical expenses.
Time is Money: Here's a scenario that demonstrates how your time can be more valuable when not spent on bookkeeping.
Example: Cost of DIY Bookkeeping: Time Spent on Bookkeeping
Role: Web Developer
Weekly Time Allocation:
32 hours on billable client site development
2 hours on research and development
5 hours on administrative tasks (emails, client communication, advertising)
3 hours on bookkeeping tasks (billing, follow-ups, instructional videos)
Total hours worked per week: 42 hours
Hourly rate for site development: $95
Earnings Breakdown:
Total earnings from billable work: 32 hours x $95 = $3,040
Gross hourly rate: $3,040 / 42 hours = $72.38 per hour
Cost of DIY Bookkeeping:
3 hours of bookkeeping x $72.38 per hour = $217.14 per week
Monthly cost: $217.14 per week x 4 = $868 per month
Conclusion: DIY bookkeeping costs you about $868 per month! Hiring me as your bookkeeper can save you thousands of dollars each year. You can reinvest these savings into your business, new projects, or even take a well-deserved vacation! Let me handle your finances so you can focus on what you do best.
Hiring a professional bookkeeper can lead to financial benefits and cost savings.
Tax Savings:
- Organized books help track deductible expenses, reducing your tax burden.
- Accurate bookkeeping prevents IRS fines by avoiding filing mistakes.
Accounting Fees:
- Disorganized books increase accounting fees as accountants charge more to fix your work.
- Freelance bookkeepers cost significantly less per hour than accountants.
Burnout:
- Managing bookkeeping yourself adds stress and mental fatigue.
- Overwork can impact your health and enjoyment, taking time away from revenue-generating activities.
Peace of Mind:
- Having a bookkeeper manage your finances frees up your time for other important tasks.
- Professional bookkeepers offer a fair flat rate and consistent pricing for their services.
You didn’t go into business to be a bookkeeper. But I did! That’s MY business. There are SO many reasons! Here are just a few.
-Bookkeepers have your back when tax season comes around. No need for a shoe box full of receipts. They ensure your books are up-to-date with categorized transactions, reconciled accounts, and accurate financial statements. They clearly outline deductible expenses that reduce your tax amount owed (bookkeeping expenses can be 100% deducted!!) and can prevent additional fees from your CPA!
-We help you understand how your business is performing by interpreting your cash flow, where your income is coming from and where your funds are being spent, which gives you the power to make confident financial decisions.
-Hiring a bookkeeper is an investment that saves you money (see ‘Can I afford a bookkeeper’ for a more in-depth breakdown). You will see the difference and the value almost instantly. Prevent IRS fees, save hundreds with your CPA, gain peace of mind with the knowledge that your finances are correct & compliant, discover more free time for activities you enjoy and that grow your business!
-Reduce stress and your to-do list. No need to add the task of bookkeeping to your already demanding work week.

The difference is in the details. For example, most other companies do just the bare minimum and leave out the specifics. You are viewed as another account to be managed. Their package options are not flexible. You could be charged for unnecessary services or those options may exclude services you need, therefore causing you to incur another expense from an outside source. They typically use their own software and do not integrate with your own (taking away any autonomy), you could pay extra for them to start with past data (and insure its accuracy), and if you ever want to end your service, you will have to hire someone just to interpret their data. Most don't provide important bookkeeping functions such as customer invoicing, AP, payroll, sales tax tracking, or inventory management. Plus, you’re usually overcharged for Tax services.

No, I am not a CPA. And no, filing my own taxes doesn't make me one LOL. As a business owner, you should utilize both; the work of accountants and bookkeepers do correspond. However, bookkeepers do the forefront tasks with categorization, reconciliation, and confirming accuracy, while accountants provide analysis, compliance, and are certified to advise and represent in tax proceedings. They are also much more expensive. I exclusively provide bookkeeping services. I can work directly with your CPAs! As a client, I can also refer you to some top-notch CPAs in my network. Unfortunately this industry does have some not-so-stellar chances for disappointment, but with MamaBear360 you're cared for like one of our own!
